BLUE is the dominant color in Provence and the Mediterranean area: the blue of the sky and the darker blue of the sea. In creating Couleur du Sud I selected a number of photographs taken between dawn and dusk. These fall into three main categories.
- The first of these deals with landscapes, and consists of three galleries: images of two shores, those of the Frioul archipelago of the city of Marseille and the Camargue, in the Rhône delta, and a gallery containing photographs of a more rugged terrain, taken around the Sainte-Victoire mountain in different seasons and at various times of the day.
- A rich fauna populates this beautiful countryside. You can meet animal life living underwater, at eye level and in the air. Certain species are emblematic of Provence with their distinct colors or behavior.
- Several civilizations flourished in Provence and left traces of their Art. I gathered images, in three different galleries: Roman antiquity, classical (and sometimes more modern) architecture, and bas-reliefs and sculptureswhich adorn many of our streets and facades.
I wish you a pleasant discovery and look forward to your questions or comments.
